Yona of the Dawn Gets Sequel Anime From Pierrot Films
Yona of the Dawn is getting a sequel anime from Pierrot Films.
Pierrot Films is animating a sequel to Yona of the Dawn, the long-running fantasy series based on Kusanagi's manga. The original anime premiered in 2014 and ran for 24 episodes, adapting only a fraction of the source material's scope.
The manga concluded its serialization on December 19, with the 48th and final compiled volume released recently. That's over a decade of continuous publication. The first season left substantial manga territory unexplored, so a sequel has real narrative ground to cover. Whether Pierrot will adapt the remaining chapters or extend into new material remains unconfirmed, but the manga's conclusion gives the studio a defined endpoint to work toward—a luxury many anime adaptations don't have.
