The anime adaptation of Witch and Mercenary has dropped its first trailer and locked in an April 2027 premiere date. Directed by Shinpei Ezaki and produced by 8-Bit, the series adapts Kaeru Chohokiteki's light novels and follows a witch named Siasha and a mercenary called Zig Crane as they journey in search of peace.

Saori Hayami voices Siasha, while Taito Ban takes on the role of Zig Crane. The soundtrack comes courtesy of Rei Ishizuka under the Lantis label. That's a solid lineup—Hayami's range alone makes this worth watching, and pairing her with Ban suggests the production is taking the character dynamics seriously.

The trailer marks the first real look at what 8-Bit is building here. With nearly three years until release, there's time for the studio to polish what could be a genuinely compelling odd-couple narrative. A powerful witch and a mercenary hunting for peace is the kind of premise that lives or dies on execution and chemistry—and on paper, this cast has the chops to deliver it.
