Shiba Inu Rooms, Esu Omori's manga about a shiba inu and its owner, is heading to television. TMS Entertainment will produce the anime adaptation, with director Osamu Yamasaki at the helm, and it's scheduled to premiere on Japanese TV in summer 2027.

The manga started as a one-shot in 2023 before moving into serialization on Shonen Jump+. Eight volumes are currently in print, with a ninth on the way. Viz Media handles the English release.

The series has built a steady readership over the past two years. A cute-animal premise translates reliably to animation, and the anime will lean into what makes the manga work: the quiet charm of domestic life with a dog, rendered in a style that doesn't require elaborate action sequences. That's a formula TMS knows how to execute cleanly.

The 2027 window gives the studio breathing room to adapt the material without rushing. For fans of low-stakes, character-driven comedy with genuine warmth, this is the kind of project that benefits from a patient hand.
