Nintendo Bundles Soften Switch 2's $50 Price Jump
Nintendo is offering new Switch 2 bundles to soften its upcoming $50 price hike.
Nintendo's moving forward with its Switch 2 price increase—set to take effect across the U.S., Canada, U.K., and mainland Europe in just five days—and now the company's introducing its first console bundles to help ease the sting.
The base Switch 2 is climbing to $499.99, a $50 jump from where it started. To sweeten that pill, Nintendo's offering two different bundle options, each pairing the console with a game and some Nintendo Switch Online time.
The first bundle arrives in late September and pairs the Switch 2 with Mario Kart World plus three months of Nintendo Switch Online for $549.99. The second option, available from October 22, bundles the console with Nintendo Switch Sports Resort and a 90-day Switch Online subscription for $529.99.
It's a familiar strategy—the bundles don't eliminate the price increase, but they do offer a bit of value-add for early adopters willing to commit to the higher price point. Nintendo announced the price hike back in May, citing market conditions as the reason for the adjustment. Now, with these bundles, the company's giving consumers a couple of ways to justify that extra spend, whether you're drawn to racing or sports titles.
If you're on the fence about jumping in at the new price, these bundles at least give you something concrete alongside the hardware itself—a game you were probably going to buy anyway, plus a few months of online access. It's not revolutionary, but it's a reasonable way to soften what would otherwise feel like a pretty steep bump.
