The 32nd edition of Manga Barcelona is shaping up to be a major event for anime and manga fans across Europe. Running from December 5 to 8, 2026, at Fira de Barcelona Gran Via, the festival has assembled an impressive roster of guests and programming that spans horror, music, and activism.

Horror manga legend Junji Ito will serve as the guest of honor, bringing his distinctive aesthetic and storytelling prowess to the event. Alongside him, director Shoji Kawamori and character designer Risa Ebata will present their recent film Labyrinth, offering attendees a chance to engage directly with the creative minds behind the project.

The festival's musical lineup reflects its commitment to celebrating anime's sonic landscape. Performances from ALI, Reol, and Lotus Juice will punctuate the four-day run, while the Auditori Manga Barcelona will host the premiere of AGITO: Psychic War and a special retrospective celebrating the 20th anniversary of Satoshi Kon's Paprika—a film that remains a touchstone for anime cinema.

Perhaps most intriguingly, Doctors Without Borders will collaborate with the One Piece universe for an interactive experience, suggesting the festival is using its platform to bridge entertainment and humanitarian awareness. The partnership hints at how major anime properties can mobilize fan communities around real-world causes.

The event also promises appearances from cosplayers and creators including Oswaldo Kato, Yaya Han, and Konata (Kohva), ensuring the festival maintains its grassroots energy alongside its marquee attractions.
