New promotional artwork has debuted, showcasing our first official look at Robert Downey Jr. portraying Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. Revealed at the Walt Disney Studios Marketing Expo in Shanghai, this design sets the stage for a unique iteration of the iconic villain.

The artwork diverges from typical comic book styles, suggesting a fresh take for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It features distinct elements such as gauntlets and chainmail, hinting at a design inspired by both Jonathan Hickman's Avengers runs and classic depictions of Doctor Doom.

Notably, symbols resembling magical inscriptions adorn his armor, and finer details on his mask hint at deeper story elements. Joe Russo, one of the directors, highlighted their approach to inspiration from the comics: "We always create our own version of the story... so we'll draw inspiration from both [comic runs]."

Avengers: Doomsday boasts a star-studded cast including Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, and many others, with a scheduled release date of December 18, 2026. Fans eagerly anticipate this new chapter in the MCU, especially with the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars set to follow it in December 2027.
