Marvel Icons Get Stunning Variant Covers Inspired by Tron
Marvel is celebrating the upcoming film "Tron: Ares" by releasing a series of variant covers.
Marvel is set to enchant fans with a new series of variant covers inspired by the iconic sci-fi film "Tron," as excitement builds for the upcoming sequel, "Tron: Ares." Originally released 43 years ago, the film introduced viewers to "The Grid," a vibrant digital world where players like the main character, portrayed by a video game software engineer, navigated through dazzling light displays and innovative concepts that were revolutionary for its time.
In anticipation of "Tron: Ares," Marvel is embracing the film’s legacy with ten special variant covers featuring its beloved heroes—like Captain America, Scarlet Witch, and Spider-Man—reimagined as Programs racing Light Cycles and battling for Users in an exhilarating cyber realm. Each cover is designed to mirror the aesthetics of the new film, including elements associated with Ares, a character portrayed by Jared Leto, who ventures out of the Grid and into the real world seeking human assistance.
Marvel's press release highlights the collaboration with top artists to deliver designs that resonate with fans of both the comic book universe and the Tron franchise. The series will debut in October, alongside a sneak peek at five covers, including the Captain America variant by artist Stephen Segovia.
The following titles will feature these exciting variant covers, rolling out on specific release dates throughout the month:
- October 1: "New Avengers" #5 (by Hicham Habchi), "Ultimate Wolverine" #10 (by Phil Noto)
- October 8: "Avengers" #31 (by Mahmud Asrar)
- October 15: "Captain America" #4 (by Stephen Segovia), "Incredible Hulk" #30 (by Ben Su)
- October 22: "Jeff the Land Shark" #5 (by Rod Reis), "Miles Morales: Spider-Man" #39 (by Paco Medina), "Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu" #13 (by Luciano Vecchio)
- October 29: "Black Cat" #3 (by Mirka Andolfo), "Ultimate Spider-Man" #22 (by Javier Fernandez)
With this fusion of classic and contemporary, Marvel enthusiasts and sci-fi fans alike have plenty to look forward to as they dive back into the dazzling world of Tron.
