The upcoming series "Rusuban Neko Kinako" promises an intriguing narrative centered on resilience and companionship as it follows a young girl and her cat who wait at home for their family after a devastating earthquake and nuclear incident. This new work will be available starting August 28 in the Morning two online magazine, announced in the 38th issue of Kodansha's Morning magazine.

Machiko Kyō is no stranger to impactful storytelling; her earlier work, "Cocoon," released in 2010, has inspired an anime adaptation that is anticipated to air on NHK on August 25, coinciding with significant historical anniversaries. Additionally, her previous series "Suzume no Gakkō," launched in June 2022, concluded with a third compiled volume in April 2023, demonstrating her consistent output and ability to captivate audiences.

Kyō's artistic journey has included notable works such as "Mitsuami no Kami-sama," which won recognition at the 18th Annual Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize, and the acclaimed short anime "Pigtails" stemming from her earlier manga. With "Rusuban Neko Kinako," readers can look forward to another exploration of complex themes interwoven with Kyō's distinct artistic style.
