Nintendo has officially announced that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will release for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 6, 2025. This sequel delves deeper into the story from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, with Princess Zelda traveling back to the age of the Zonai. During this time, she joins the first royalty of Hyrule, including King Rauru and Queen Sonia.

Players familiar with Tears of the Kingdom will be aware of the backdrop involving Ganondorf and the Imprisoning War. In a recent Nintendo Direct event, a trailer showcased an exciting gameplay mechanic called Sync Strikes, where two players can combine their efforts to launch powerful attacks against foes. Additionally, a two-player split-screen co-op option is available, making it easy to team up with a friend, or multiplayer via GameShare, allowing those who don't own the game to join in on the adventure.

In this installment, players can take on the roles of several characters, including Zelda, King Rauru, Queen Sonia, and even a brave Korok fighter. Zonai devices will also play a significant role, enabling players to overcome enemies with wind and water attacks. For further updates, keep an eye on news from the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, which also revealed a lot of exciting information about other franchises like Mario, Pokémon, Yoshi, and Fire Emblem.
