GKIDS Unveils 'Invasion' Clip from 'All You Need Is Kill' Anime

GKIDS has started streaming a captivating clip titled "Invasion" from the highly anticipated anime film adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka and Yoshitoshi ABe's light novel, All You Need Is Kill. The clip showcases a thrilling scene featuring monstrous invaders.

The Film and Its Release

The anime film is set to hit North American theaters this Friday. GKIDS has secured distribution rights in several regions, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Viewers will have the option to watch the film in both its original Japanese audio with English subtitles as well as an English dub.

The film was released in Japan on January 9 and had its initial screenings at various film festivals, including:

  • Annecy International Animation Film Festival (June)
  • Fantasia International Film Festival (July)
  • New York Comic Con (October)

Upcoming screenings are also scheduled for other festivals, including the Bucheon International Animation Festival and the San Sebastian Fantasy Festival.

Voice Cast and Production

The anime features a talented voice cast:

  • Ai Mikami (Stephanie Sheh) as Rita
  • Natsuki Hanae (Jadon Muniz) as Keiji
  • Kana Hanazawa (Lisa Kay Jennings) as Shasta
  • hiccorohee (Cherami Leigh) as Rachel
  • Kenichiro Akimoto directs the production at STUDIO4°C.

AKASAKI, a university student and singer-songwriter, created the theme song "Tsuretette" specifically for this anime.

Story Overview

Set in a dystopian future under siege from alien forces known as Mimics, All You Need Is Kill follows the journey of newly enlisted soldier Keiji Kiriya, who finds himself trapped in a time loop after dying in battle. Through repeated experiences, he learns valuable lessons, ultimately forming a bond with elite soldier Rita Vrataski.

The original novel was published by Shueisha in December 2004, later translated into English by Viz Media in 2009, paving the way for both a manga adaptation and a Hollywood film titled Edge of Tomorrow starring Tom Cruise.
