Square Enix has shared a fresh look at Final Fantasy Resonance, an HD-2D offline game drawing from the first story arc of the now-defunct Final Fantasy Brave Exvius mobile title. The new trailer went live on Friday, and it's accompanied by solid news for anyone interested in playing: the game is heading to Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 22.

Pre-orders are already open across multiple editions. On Switch and Switch 2, you'll find both standard and deluxe digital versions available for pre-purchase. If you're after something more tactile, there's also a Collector's Edition in the mix, which bundles in bonus items, an artbook, a soundtrack, and a promotional card. The game will support both Japanese and English audio, so you can choose whichever feels right to you.

For those unfamiliar with Brave Exvius, it was a long-running gacha game that built up a devoted following over the years before eventually shutting down. Resonance essentially takes that world and its characters—including familiar faces like Rain, Lasswell, and Fina—and reimagines them in a more traditional, story-driven format. The HD-2D aesthetic (that gorgeous hand-drawn-meets-pixel hybrid look that Square Enix has been refining) should give the game a distinctive visual identity that feels both modern and warmly retro.

The move from a live-service mobile game to a self-contained console and PC experience is an interesting one, and it speaks to Square Enix's confidence in the Final Fantasy Brave Exvius universe as a foundation for something different. If you've been curious about what that first story arc was all about, or if you're simply drawn to the HD-2D style, October 22 is shaping up to be worth marking on your calendar.
