The Elusive Samurai is gearing up for its second season with a fresh ending theme, and the production has tapped an unexpected collaborator to deliver it. Bocchiboromaru will perform the track "Romantic ga Hoshii nara," joined by three guest vocalists from the idol group Hinatazaka46.

The announcement marks another milestone for the anime adaptation of Yūsei Matsui's manga, which first premiered in July 2024 before re-airing this past April. While the original source material wrapped up in February 2023, the anime continues to find new life on screen—and the choice of ending theme artist suggests the production is leaning into a more playful, contemporary sound for the upcoming season.

Matsui's manga itself proved to be a critical success, earning the 69th Shogakukan Manga Award in 2024, cementing its status as more than just another period-piece adventure. The story's blend of historical setting and modern sensibilities appears to be carrying through to how the anime is positioning itself, particularly in its music choices.

With Bocchiboromaru handling vocals and Hinatazaka46 members adding their own voices to the mix, season two's ending theme is shaping up to be a notable departure from typical anime fare. Whether this signals a tonal shift for the season itself remains to be seen, but the decision to collaborate with both a musical act and an idol group suggests the production is willing to experiment.
