Darth Maul Returns in 'Maul: Shadow Lord'

A new clip from the upcoming animated series, Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, has been released, showcasing the former Sith Lord's deadly skills and his quest for revenge against Palpatine and the Empire.

The Setting

The series is set on the harsh world of Janix, far from the Empire’s reach, where Darth Maul is determined to reclaim his power following his betrayal by Palpatine. After being replaced by Count Dooku following his defeat by Obi-Wan Kenobi, Maul's vengeance becomes personal.

Creative Insights

According to Executive Producer Matt Michnovetz, the series aims to deliver an action-packed experience reminiscent of classic serials that inspired George Lucas's original Star Wars.

Supervising Director Brad Rau noted, “We're surprised at the new facets of Maul revealed in this show, and we're certain fans will be thrilled.”

Release Details

Set to premiere on April 6, 2026, on Disney+, the series will air two episodes weekly, culminating in a finale on the beloved Star Wars Day, May the 4th. This storyline unfolds post-Star Wars: The Clone Wars, as Maul attempts to rebuild his criminal empire.

Along his journey, he encounters a disillusioned Jedi Padawan who could become the ally he desperately seeks.

The series features a talented voice cast:

  • Sam Witwer as Maul
  • Gideon Adlon as Devon Izara
